US wants Poland to send Patriot Air Defense System to Middle East

WARSAW, Mar 31 :   The United States demands that Poland deploy a Patriot air defense system to the Middle East to help thwart Iranian attacks, Polish media reported on Tuesday.

Washington also seeks missiles already positioned in Poland along the Vistula River, the Rzeczpospolita newspaper reported.

Poland has not yet issued an official response, the report said.

The Polish military operates two Patriot air defense systems, equipped with 16 launchers and roughly 600 missiles.

On Monday, US President Donald Trump said that the US would “blow up and completely obliterate” all Iranian power plants, oil wells, Kharg Island, and desalinization plants.

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched strikes on targets in Iran, including in Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties. Iran responded by striking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East.
