Upsurge in dog bite cases in Rajouri

RAJOURI, Jan 28: The Anti-Rabies Section of the Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri has reported a sudden upsurge in dog bite cases, with multiple incidents reported since morning from different parts of the district.
The first case involved a 30-year-old man, Kali Ram, who sustained dog bite injuries on his face, including the forehead. The incident occurred near Salani Bridge, Rajouri. Subsequently, 12 more dog bite cases were reported from various localities, indicating no specific focus or cluster area.
The affected individuals include Puneet Sharma (40), resident of Chatyari, Farooq Hussain (51), resident of Malyar Mohalla, Rajouri, Pappu (52), resident of Bella Bridge, Nusrat Kosser (30), resident of Panhad, Karam Pal (30), resident of Salani Bridge, Mohd Kalam (7), resident of Malik Market, Nirmal (26), resident of Dhangri, Tilak Raj (60), resident of Dhangri, Aqib (9), resident of Doodarshan Bala, Altaf Hussain (46), resident of Panjgrain, Mehran (5), resident of Darhali Bridge and Amir Khan (18), resident of Salani.
According to the hospital authorities, all the cases were promptly and effectively managed at the Anti-Rabies Section of GMC Rajouri. The patients were provided proper wound care and were administered Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV) and Anti-Rabies Serum (ARS) as per standard medical protocol.
Deputy Superintendent GMC Rajouri, Dr Javid Choudhary, confirmed that all patients are stable and receiving appropriate medical care. He advised the general public to seek immediate medical attention in case of any animal bite and avoid neglecting even minor injuries.
Health authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious and report stray dog-related incidents to the concerned departments for timely preventive measures.
