Srinagar, June 29: Upper House today witnessed uproar by legislators of ruling and Opposition parties over the CAG findings of substandard medicines being used in the health institutions of Jammu and Kashmir.
Soon after the House proceedings commenced here, ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator, Ramesh Arora, said the CAG report has revealed that substandard medicines are being given to patients in the State and demanded action in this regard.
“Please pass on the directions for the constitution of House Committee. There is no further scope for enquiry after the CAG findings,” said Arora. The demand of BJP legislator was supported by National Conference (NC) lawmaker Dr Shehnaz Ganai and Congress lawmaker, Ghulam Nabi Monga.
Another NC legislator, Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri said the findings are a cause of concern and is a serious issue. “It is a joint concern,” he said. The members created uproar over the findings and demanded constitution of House Committee.
However, the Chairman Haji Anayat Ali rejected the demand and instead told Arora to submit the documents of the CAG findings. The BJP legislator later submitted copies of newspaper reports to the Chairman.
