UP to hoist 4.60 Crore flags under Har Ghar Tiranga campaign

LUCKNOW, Aug 4: Uttar Pradesh has launched an extensive state-level rollout of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, to hoist 4.60 crore national flags across homes, institutions, and public spaces between August 2 and August 15.
The initiative, part of the nationwide celebration under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, is being implemented in a three-phase format involving schools, local bodies, self-help groups, and government departments.
UP Culture and Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh confirmed here on Monday that the campaign will operate on a massive scale this year, with 2.60 crore new flags being produced through the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM), and self-help groups across the state.
An additional 2 crore flags used in previous years will be reused as commemorative items to promote sustainability and memory of past participation.
The campaign is structured in three distinct phases. The first phase (August 2 8) focuses on school and community engagement with exhibitions, tiranga-themed d cor, rangoli contests, and workshops.
The second phase (August 9 12) includes district-level fairs, cultural programs, tiranga rallies, and public outreach through stalls and selfie booths.
The final phase (August 13 15) will culminate in widespread flag hoisting and tricolour lighting of government buildings, bridges, and major landmarks. Citizens are encouraged to upload selfies with the flag at harghartiranga.com.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has urged citizens to actively participate, stating that the National Flag is not just a symbol of identity, but a mark of collective pride and unity. The state has issued implementation guidelines to all District Magistrates to ensure broad participation and disciplined execution.
Minister Jaiveer Singh described the campaign as a civic movement rooted in emotional and cultural significance. “The tricolour embodies the spirit of our freedom struggle and national identity. This is not just a ceremonial campaign-it’s about reinforcing our shared sense of belonging and duty,” he said.
The state’s focus this year is not only on visibility but also on reach, aiming to bring rural households, schools, and local businesses into active participation. With logistics finalized and production underway, officials expect record-breaking engagement ahead of Independence Day.
