RAMBAN, Sept 13: A resident of Uttar Pradesh was arrested here today after cough syrup containing Codine Phosphate was recovered from his vehicle at a Naka checking in Ramsu area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
On the directions of SSP Ramban, Arun Gupta, cops from Police Station Ramsu intercepted a Srinagar bound vehicle of Scorpio make bearing registration number UP20AT-9760 and during checking of the vehicle 580 bottles of syrup Lykarex-T containing Codeine Phosphate were recovered.
Occupant of the vehicle was identified as Gulfam, son of Israr, resident of village Barkalan Garhi, Tehsil and District Bijnore, Uttar Pardesh.
Police said the recovered codeine phosphate is a psychotropic substance as per the schedule of NDPS Act.
Police has registered a case in this regard in FIR No. 51 of 2025 under relevant Sections of NDPS Act at Police Station Ramsu and started investigation.
