RAJOURI, July 8: Some unknown people allegedly sprayed some deadly poisonous chemical on the growing vegetable and maize crop of Abdul Rehman Lone, a poor farmer of Thannamang village of Darhal tehsil of Rajouri district at night.
The farmer had grown many types of vegetables and maize crop in his field, which he sells in the market and his organic crops are quite famous in the entire area and people like to buy vegetables from the farmer. Two days ago at night, some anti-social elements sprayed poisonous chemical on the crop of this farmer, due to which the crop was completely destroyed and the farmer suffered huge loss, as he is completely dependent on the yield of this agricultural crop for his livelihood.
A large number of people from the area visited the affected farm and condemned the incident and demanded strict and exemplary punishment for the accused. The victim farmer has also lodged a complaint with the police. The farmer said that his agricultural produce is only source of his income, as he sells vegetables and maize crop in the local market and run his family’s livelihood. He said that someone has damaged his crop with wrong intention and if someone had eaten the vegetable crop, this anti-human act could have proved disastrous.
A local officer said that the farmer is progressive and he came to know about the use of some chemicals and saved many lives. He said that the use of chemicals on crops sometimes proves fatal if a person eats the crop without washing it properly. The police has taken cognizance of the matter and started investigation. SHO Darhal Manpreet Singh told that police has started investigations in the case.
