JAMMU, July 29: A grand Shoba yatra was taken out with traditional religious fervour and gaiety from Dogra Hall temple of Mata Sheetla Devi here today. A large number of devotees participated in the Shoba Yatra and Sawari of Godess.
The Om Shakti Sheetla Shoba Yatra was led by Keeri Devi Sharma and Manish Sharma president Dogra Hall.
The devotees performing rare acts by piercing the Trishul in their tongue and mouth and pulling the rath of Mata by tying chains to their waist took out Shoba yatra from Mata’s temple at Dogra Chowk and after passing via Raghunath Bazar, Purani Mandi Link road and various other markets of the city culminated later at Dogra Chowk temple.
The function will culminate on Friday with holding of Jagrata of the Godess in the temple premises. This religious function is annual feature and every year the devotees take the Sawari of Mata in a unique way to seek blessings.
Later in the evening the devotees were served prashad.
