JAMMU, Apr 30: In the wake of spike in COVID-19 cases, Shrine Board Employees Union (SBEU) has demanded lowering of strength of Shrine Board employees in offices to control huge gathering of staffers travelling from Jammu, Udhampur and Reasi for Katra in staff buses.
In a letter to J&K LG, SBEU president, Parshotam Singh has stated that he has requested to the Chief Executive Officer SMVDSB in this regard but no guidelines have been passed by the Shrine Board to its employees till date.
“As per government order 50 per cent passengers are permitted to travel in buses/mini-buses but in the buses hired by Shrine Board, employees are travelling in full strength which can spread Corona infection among the staff members,” Singh maintained.
He also said that at present the government has announced lockdown from April 28 to May 3 till 8:00 am but Shrine Board staff is working in full strength.
Singh urged upon the LG to direct Shrine Board authorities to follow guidelines of the government as far as COVID pandemic is concerned.
