SRINAGAR: A group of unidentified gunmen looted Rs 1 lakh in cash from a Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch in Pulwama district on Monday, official sources said.
They said a group of three unidentified gunmen forced their entry into a J&K bank branch at Noorpora, Tral in Pulwama. The gunmen after threatening the bank staff and some customers looted Rs 1 lakh. The gunmen also fired several rounds in the air before decamping with the money.
However, a police spokesperson said the gunmen had to retreat after they were confronted by customers at the bank. However, he confirmed that the gunmen looted Rs 1 lakh cash from the bank.
Security forces and state police reached the spot but the gunmen had managed to escape, the sources said, adding a massive hunt has been launched to nab the looters.
