Srinagar, Dec 5: An unborn baby died today, allegedly due to delayed treatment and apparent negligence by doctors at the Government Lal Ded Hospital.
The incident involved a family from Aragam in Bandipora, with the aggrieved members alleging that treatment was delayed and the patient was sent back despite complications, leading to the death of the baby.

The affected mother has been identified as Sakeena (25), and the father as Khalid Shafi Bhat.
A relative, Kawseena, told reporters that on December 1 they took the patient to a hospital in Bandipora, where the doctor referred them to Lal Ded Hospital.
“The doctors at Lal Ded Hospital said she could only be admitted if her blood pressure and sugar levels increased. We were sent back and told to return on December 9, even though she already had complications,” she said.
She added that today, when the mother did not feel the baby’s movements, they took her back to District Hospital Bandipora.
“The doctor asked why we had come, and we explained that we were sent back earlier. After checking, we were told the baby had already died. Can they give us the baby back?” she said.
Kawseena alleged that at Lal Ded Hospital, they are now claiming the baby was weak, just to save themselves.
“It has already been documented that the baby had died. Is this how they deal with people? We want justice. Why did the doctor send us back despite knowing she was high-risk?”
The family has demanded accountability and a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
While hospital authorities, including the Head of the Department at Lal Ded Hospital, initially remained tight-lipped, officials later told ‘Excelsior’ that a three-member inquiry committee has been constituted.
