UN N-watchdog team to visit Iran in next two weeks for technical talks

VIENNA/TEHRAN, July 28: A team of the United Nation’s nuclear watchdog group — the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) — will visit Iran within the next two weeks, said Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei today.
A manual regarding the future of Iran’s cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog will be presented, based on a recent parliamentary bill restricting such cooperation, Baghaei said, reports Times of Israel.
The bill was passed following Iran’s 12-day war with Israel last month, in which Israel targeted Iran’s nuclear program.
On June 25, the Iranian parliament passed a national resolution ending its cooperation with the IAEA, charging it of political bias, and supplying Israel of critical information regarding its nuclear program.
Nonetheless, some scope for talks has opened up recently, with an official from Tehran stating that Iran was willing to allow an IAEA team for technical talks, but not inspections. This was also confirmed by the watchdog chief Rafael Grossi. (UNI)
