JAMMU, May 21: In a swift enforcement action, the Forest Department seized two vehicles involved in the illegal transportation of Khair billets in the villages of Seri Rakh and Nagrota.
Acting on specific intelligence, forest officials intercepted a Mahindra Pickup (JK02BV-7819) and a Maruti Van (JK02X-4399) on May 19 and 21, respectively. The operation was conducted under the close supervision of Range Officer Jammu and overall supervision of the Divisional Forest Officer, Jammu.
The first seizure at Seri Rakh was led by Block Officer Manawar Vikram Charak, assisted by Beat Guards Rajeshwar Singh, Vipan Jamwal, Tarun Khajuria and Tarun Mehra. The second operation at Nagrota was executed by Block Officer Rakeshwar Singh, assisted by Beat Guards Ashok Kumar, Mohd Akbar, Raiz Ahmed and Sagar Singh.
A total of 39 Khair billets, transported without valid documentation in violation of the Indian Forest Act, 1927, were recovered. Legal proceedings for confiscation have been initiated, and the seized vehicles and timber are in official custody.
