Two UAPA case absconders arrested from Baramulla

JAMMU, Nov 2: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested two absconders wanted in a UAPA case from Baramulla, five years after they went underground.
The accused, identified as Owais Farooq and Ahsan Fayaz Leilu, both residents of Old Town, Baramulla, were wanted in case FIR number 63/2020 registered under sections 120-B, 121, and 121-A of the IPC and sections 13, 17, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Police Station RS Pura, a police official said.
But due to their prolonged absence, the 3rd Additional Sessions Court, Jammu had issued warrants against them under section 299 of the CrPC, he said.
Acting on the specific intelligence, he said, the warrants were executed today with the arrest of the accused from Baramullah by a special team of Police Station RS Pura, led by Inspector RS Parihar, SHO concerned.
Following their arrest, the accused duo was produced before the 3rd Additional Sessions Court Jammu, which remanded them to judicial custody and lodged them at District Jail, Amphalla, Jammu.
