JAMMU, Mar 30: Two teenage boys who drowned in the Tawi River near Nagrota on Sunday were recovered today while efforts to locate a third missing boy were suspended at dusk and will resume tomorrow.
The victims-Bavish Koul (15), Aditya Pandit (15), and Sonam Dutt (16), all from the Kashmiri Pandit community-were reportedly swept away by a strong current near Sainik School Nagrota on the outskirts of Jammu on Sunday evening.
Rescue teams comprising police, NDRF, SDRF, Army divers, and local volunteers launched an extensive operation. With the help of specially trained Army divers deployed this morning, the bodies of Bavish and Aditya were retrieved and later shifted to Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu, for post-mortem examination.
Officials said the search for Sonam continued throughout the day but yielded no results. The operation was eventually called off due to fading light and is scheduled to resume in the morning.
Preliminary reports suggest the boys had been playing volleyball along the riverbank before entering the water for a bath, during which they were caught in the strong current.
