Two sports stadia coming up in J&K

SRINAGAR, June 13: Gove-rnment today said it is planning to build two sports stadia at the cost of Rs. 30 crore each at Srinagar and Jammu. Besides, 12 indoor sports halls are to be constructed under ‘special package for development of sports infrastructure in the State’
In a written reply to a question of Rajeev Sharma in Lower House, Minister Incharge Sports stated that two sports stadia at capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar at the cost of Rs. 30 crore each, laying synthetic tracks for athletic and hockey, multi sports hall at a cost of Rs. 4.00 crore per track and construction of the swimming pools of Rs. 2 crore each at Jammu and Srinagar and Rs. 4 crore per hall besides purchase of equipments etc have been planned.
“Twelve indoor sports halls are to be constructed under special package for development of sports infrastructure in the State”, the Minister stated.
The survey was got conducted by the Directorate of Tourism Jammu through National Institute of Water Sports, Goa wherein the agency did not recommend leisure water sporting involving untrained enthusiasts, he said.
“However, it has suggested that properly trained and professionally qualified practioners of adventure water sports can be encouraged. But it should practioners are capable of operating themselves as well as manage accidents on their own,” said the Minister.
