Two missing girls from Uri traced in Jammu

JAMMU, Sept 17: Jammu and Kashmir Police in General Bus Stand area today traced two girls reported missing from Uri within hours of receiving information.
Police said that on September 15, early morning, information was received from SHO Uri about the disappearance of two girls, one major and one minor.
They said a case under FIR number 93/2025 was already registered at Police Station Uri.
According to them, initial suspicion suggested the girls might have taken shelter in a hotel near Bus Stand Jammu, following which surveillance and ground checks were intensified.
By evening, around 7:50 pm, they said, a police team led by SHO Bus Stand Inspector Inder Pal Singh, under the supervision of SDPO City North, located both girls near Jaydurga Travels.
“The tracing was made possible with the support of the Police Partnership Group and alert staff deployed in the area,” police said.
After recovery, they said, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and SHO Uri were informed, and necessary legal procedures were initiated with the assistance of lady police personnel and CWC officials, to hand over the missing girls to their legal heirs.
