KULGAM, Apr 8: Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have sealed two medical shops in Devsar area of Kulgam district during an inspection drive against violations of drug control norms.
The drive was conducted by teams from Police Station Devsar in coordination with officials of the Drug Control Department.
A police official said during the inspection, Irfan Medical Store and Alshafa Medical Store were found violating provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act for failing to maintain mandatory records of scheduled (NRX) drugs. He said these medicines are strictly regulated due to their potential misuse.
Acting promptly, the police official said both shops were seized and sealed, and further legal action has been initiated.
In addition, two other medical shops were temporarily seized for non-compliance with CCTV installation norms, raising concerns over monitoring and accountability.

He advised all medical shop owners to strictly follow legal provisions, maintain proper records, and ensure installation of CCTV systems to avoid stringent action.
