KATHUA, June 2: Two persons died and six others, including a woman, sustained injuries when a vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident at Sarthali area on the Bani Road today.

A police official said an ill-fated Mahindra Load Carrier (JK08L-3754) was on its way towards Chadyar area when it turned turtle near Sarthali on the Bani Road, resulting in death of two people on-the-spot and injuries to six others.
Four animals loaded in the vehicle also suffered injuries, he said.
The police official added that soon after getting information, police and locals launched a rescue operation and shifted the injured to Bani Hospital, where one of them, who was grievously injured, was further referred to Government Medical College Kathua for advanced treatment.
Police identified the deceased as Bakh Ram (60) son of Naju and Bishan Dass (40) son of Birbal, both residents of Pankehi, Bani where as the injured have been identified as Shiv Kumar (27) son of Dibru Ram of Pankehi, Jaram Singh (40) son of Parimno of Sandhi, Jaram Singh (30) son of Mangat Ram of Sandhi, Jeevan Kumar (15) son of Bishan Dass of Pankehi, Veena Devi (35) wife of Bishan Dass of Pankehi, and Anchal Singh (30) son of Premu of Sitti.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Bani, Sandeep Sharma, visited the injured at the hospital and assured best possible treatment to them.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the law and started further investigation into the matter.
