JAMMU, Jan 10: Two persons were killed and one another got injured today in two separate road accidents in city outskirts.
According to a police official, a speeding truck bearing registration number JK05A-8797 hit a Pulsar bike on Kunjwani Byepass Road, opposite Kissan Flour Mill. He said the accident occurred today at about 11:45 AM and in the mishap, the pillion rider namely Shamsher Singh (60) son of Rasal Singh, resident of Bishnah, received serious injuries while as the bike rider, Kanav son of Prem Singh of Bishnah got minor injuries.
“The injured persons were immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, where Shamsher Singh was declared as brought dead by the doctors while as Kanav was discharged after providing first-aid,” the official said, adding the body of the deceased was later shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu and after postmortem, it was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites.
He said that a case in this connection was registered at concerned police station and both the vehicles involved in the accident were seized. “The accused truck driver namely Nazeer Ahmed son of Mehmood Rather, resident of Bandipora was also arrested,” the official added.
Meanwhile, a Mahindra Bolero (bearing registration number JK02AH-0631) which was on its way from Bhalwal to Kot, hit an Enfield motorcycle (without registration number) near petrol pump at Kangar Morh and seriously injured the motorcycle rider namely Shehzad Ayoub (22) son of Mohd Ayoub, resident of Neeli (tehsil-Manjakote).
The injured man was immediately shifted to GMCH Jammu, where he died during treatment. The body of the deceased was sent for postmortem while a case FIR number 05/2020 under Sections 279/337/304-A IPC was registered at police station Gharota and further investigations started.
