Two inter-state narco smugglers arrested, 11.6 kg poppy straw recovered

UDHAMPUR, Sept 26: In separate cases, Police recovered more than 11.6 kg poppy straw from two inter-state drug peddlers, who were nabbed while smuggling the narcotic.
Police team from Police Station Chenani, led by SHO Raghubir Singh, while performing vehicle checking at Motor -Shed, stopped one scooty bearing registration number PB07CG-3971. During the checking, 5.545 kgs of poppy straw was recovered from the possession of the person riding the scooty, identified as Harpreet Singh, son of Sudarshan Singh, resident of Mananhana, Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
The accused was arrested on the spot while recovered poppy straw as well as the scooty were seized. A case vide FIR No. 92/2025 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at P/S Chenani and further investigation was set into motion.
Meanwhile, in another success, Police team from Police Station Majalta, while performing routine naka checking duty at Battal Chowk, intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB65AX-7075. During the checking of said vehicle, a white plastic bag containing approximately 6.100 kgs of poppy straw was recovered from the cabin. The driver of the vehicle, Kulvinderpal Singh son of Ranjodh Singh, resident of Subhash Nagar, Mohali, Punjab was arrested on the spot.
A case vide FIR No. 77/2025 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Majalta and further investigation is going on.
