Two injured in Bathinda Blast

CHANDIGARH, Sept 13: A blast in Jida village, Bathinda, has led to the hospitalisation of Jagtar Singh and his son Gurpreet Singh at AIIMS for treatment.
The Bathinda police have registered a case against Gurpreet Singh, a local youth, in connection with the incident.

District Police Chief Avneet Kondal disclosed significant details about the case. Authorities have secured the site of the incident, deploying bomb disposal teams and utilising a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) for investigation.
The police have taken Gurpreet Singh into custody, and a forensic examination of his mobile phone revealed videos linked to radical ideologies and instructions for making explosives from chemicals, along with other objectionable content.
Kondal stated that the materials allegedly procured by Gurpreet Singh are under forensic scrutiny, with a detailed report pending.
Initial interrogations have uncovered incriminating statements from the suspect. Additionally, a booked ticket found on his phone is being investigated.
The police chief revealed that Gurpreet Singh, who scored well in his Class 12 exams, was pursuing a BA LLB degree in his first semester.
Villagers and family members described him as a bright student who was often reserved and frequently seen using his phone.(PTI)
