Two injured due to nylon thread in Jammu, Bishnah

JAMMU, Aug 7: Two people were injured in separate incidents after the banned nylon thread, also known as “Gattu” or “Chinese Manja” slit their body parts at Muthi and Bishnah areas of the district.
In Muthi area of Jammu, one Satish Kumar from Gandhi Nagar was riding his bike when a nylon thread got entangled around his neck. Although he was wearing a helmet, the absence of a visor left his face exposed.
He managed to stop the bike but suffered deep cuts on his face. Locals helped remove the thread and he was taken to hospital for treatment.
In another incident at Bishnah area, one Tarsem Lal, a resident of Finda and a factory worker, sustained serious neck injuries after gattu manja slit his throat near Palli village.
He was returning home late at night when the thread got stuck around his neck, causing him to fall.
He was rushed to Bishnah Hospital where doctors gave him 15 stitches. Family members of both the injured individuals have demanded a strict enforcement of the ban on the sale and purchase of Gattu thread.
