JAMMU, June 25: Army, police and SOG today destroyed two hideouts of the militants and recovered arms, ammunition and explosives in Balakote sector of Mendhar in Poonch district and Thanmarg Dewal in Reasi district.
Official sources said a joint team of Army, SOG Poonch and Mendhar police launched search operation at Deri forests in Balakote area of Mendhar sector in Poonch district this morning after developing information that a consignment of weaponry had been dumped in the forests.
The joint team destroyed hideout of the militants and recovered the arms and ammunition, which included one AK-56 rifle, two grenades, two AK-56 magazines and two pouches.
Police and SOG parties in the search operation were headed by DySP (Operations) Poonch Shehzan Bhat, SDPO Mendhar Shahid Naheem and SHO Mendhar Anzir Mir.
Another joint team of Army and Dewal police post in Reasi district busted a militant hideout at Thanmarg forests and recovered arms and ammunition.
The seizure included one AK-47 rifle with two magazines and 30 rounds, one radio set in damaged condition, two pouches of ammunition, one rusted knife, one blanket and utensils.
No arrests were made in both the operations, sources said.
