JAMMU, Feb 12: In a swift action by the police, two individuals were arrested in RS Pura area here and a sharp-edged weapon, believed to be the weapon used in the assault, was recovered from their possession within 24 hours of the reporting of the crime.
A police official said that an incident occurred on February 7, 2025, when a man named Mohammad Saleem, a resident of Tanda, RS Pura, was attacked with deadly weapons by two men, Dheeraj Kumar and Shibu Kumar, along with some unknown individuals.
According to him, the assault took place near Deedar Medical Shop in Tanda, where Saleem was seriously injured and rushed to the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital for treatment.
His brother, Siddiq, reported the crime on February 11 at Police Station RS Pura, said the police official.
Following a complaint, he said, a case FIR number 26/2025 was registered under sections 126(2)/115(2) BNS and 4/25 of the Arms Act.
Later, a special police team, with the help of technical assistance and reliable sources, apprehended both the accused and put them to questioning.
During the interrogation, the duo admitted their involvement in the assault, and on their disclosure, the sharp-edged weapon used in the crime was recovered, said the police official.
Further investigation into the case is underway, he added.
