JAMMU, July 24: Two alleged drug peddlers were arrested with over 18 kilograms of poppy straw-like-substance from Ban Toll Plaza area on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway here today.
During routine checking at Ban Toll Plaza naka, a truck registered in Nagaland (NL03AA-7721) coming from Udhampur side towards Jammu was signalled to stop, a police official said.
On search of the truck, he said, 18.40 kilograms of poppy straw-like-substance was recovered from the possession of two persons travelling in the vehicle.
Identified as Hardev Singh of Piani Mian Khan, Gurdaspur, Punjab, and Mandeep Singh of Karchowal, Gurdaspur, Punjab, the accused were immediately taken into the custody, he said.
They were accordingly booked in case FIR number 167/2025 registered under sections 8/15/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Nagrota and further investigation taken up, the police official said.
