KISHTWAR, Apr 4: Police here today arrested two bootleggers and seized a significant quantity of illicit liquor from them.
Acting on specific information regarding illegal sale of liquor near DC Office Kishtwar, cops led by SHO Police Station Kishtwar, Inspector Firdous Ahmed, assisted by PSI Danish, during routine patrolling in the area of Kuleed, Waser etc raided a shop and recovered 101 bottles of illicit liquor from there and arrested one person on the spot who was identified as Nitish Kumar, son of Ganga Ram, 26, resident of Sambal, Tehsil Mughal Maidan, District Kishtwar.
Meanwhile, at a Naka, established by IC PP Padyarna, PSI Rohit Manhas, cops intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK17B-0347 and upon its search found 13 bottles of illicit liquor. The rider was arrested on the spot and was identified as Kirtan Singh, son of Ravi Singh, resident of Tayalan, Tehsil Nagseni, District Kishtwar.
In these cases, FIRs with numbers 67/2026 and 68/2026 under relevant sections of the Excise Act were registered at Police Station Kishtwar and investigations started.
Both the operations were conducted under the supervision of Additional SP Kishtwar, Pardeep Singh and Dy. SP Headquarters, Dr. Ishan Gupta.
While sharing the details, SSP Kishtwar, Naresh Singh stated that District Police Kishtwar remains committed to take strict action against bootleggers and other criminals.
