Two held with heroin worth lakhs in Bishnah

JAMMU, Sept 17: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Bishnah area today claimed that they have arrested two individuals and 264 grams of heroin worth several lakhs was recovered from their possession.
A motorcycle, one digital weighing machine and two mobile phones were also recovered from their possession.
On reliable operation, a team from Police Station Bishnah established a naka at Chak Abtara, Bishnah, and recovered the consignment along with other items from two individuals, identified as Paras of Qasim Nagar at present Nai Basti, Jammu, and Vinod Kalsotra of Chak Jarala, Bishnah, Jammu, a police official said.
Accordingly, he said, the duo was arrested and put to thorough questioning.
During interrogation, the duo claimed that the kingpin behind the gang is one Chirag Aatri, who was also booked under the PIT NDPS Act the same day, the police official said.
He said, all the accused have been booked in case FIR number 102/2025 under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Bishnah and further investigation taken up.
Pertinently, the entire operation was led by SDPO RS Pura, Gurmeet Singh, with the assistance from Inspector Rakesh Jamwal, SHO Bishnah, and PSI Darshan Singh, under the overall supervision of SP Headquarters Jammu, Irshad Hussain Rather.
Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway to trace the source and destination of the recovered contraband. Police are also thoroughly examining both the backward and forward linkages in the case.
Additionally, a financial investigation has also been initiated to trace the proceeds of the illegal narcotic trade and accordingly take appropriate legal action.
