Two held with heroin, sharp-edged weapon

JAMMU, Jan 18: Two drug peddlers were apprehended by Akhnoor Police during a routine patrolling and checking operation at Pannu Chowk naka this evening.
The Police intercepted a Tata Safari (registration number DL4CAL-4843) traveling from Sohal towards Jammu. Despite being signaled to stop, the vehicle attempted to flee but was eventually stopped, and its occupants were detained.
The suspects, identified as Amit Sharma, son of Shakti Sharma and Vipul Mehra, son of Ashwani Kumar, both residents of Rajpura Magotrian (Jammu), were found in possession of approximately 20-25 grams of a heroin-like substance and a sharp-edged weapon (Toka). They could not provide any valid explanation for possessing the contraband.
A case under FIR Number 08/2025 was registered in this connection at Akhnoor Police Station under Sections 8/21/22/25/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Section 4/25 of the Arms Act. Further investigation was ongoing.
