JAMMU, Feb 17: Two alleged drug peddlers were arrested with approximately 22 grams of heroin-like substance in Gangyal area here today, officials said.
During patrolling duty near the Power Grid Station, opposite Bosh Service Complex, Gangyal Industrial Area, a team of Gangyal Police Station led by PSIs Atta-ur-Rehman and Arun Sharma, along with other police officials, intercepted two individuals on suspicion, a police official said.
He said on search of the suspicious individuals, identified as Jaswinder Singh alias Kaka of Digiana Camp, Jammu, and Nitin Kumar alias Nitin of Bambyal, District Pathankot, Punjab, approximately 22 grams of heroin-like substance and a weighing machine was recovered.
Accordingly, the duo was arrested and booked in case FIR number 22/2026 under sections 8/21/22/29/27(a) of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Gangyal and further invstigation entrusted to PSI Arun Sharma to trace the backward and forward linkages of the accused.
The entire operation was supervised by SDPO South, SP South Dr Ajay Sharma, and SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh.
