Two held with over 4600 prescription drug bottles

Srinagar, Mar 7: Police today arrested two drug peddlers and recovered huge quantity of prescription drugs on their instance at Sangam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Addressing a press conference, SSP Anantnag Zubair Ahmad Khan said following a tip off about the transportation of drugs, police laid a checkpoint at Sangam Bridge in the district.  “Police intercepted a suspected vehicle bearing registration number JK05/6704 at Sangam Bridge. On checking of the vehicle police recovered 39 boxes consisting of 4680 bottles of Codeine Phosphate,” he added.
The SSP said both driver and conductor of the vehicle have been arrested. He identified them as Majid Abaas Wani and Tawfeeq Ahmad Parray. A case under FIR 21/2017 under section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered against them and further investigation has been taken up, the SSP added.
