Two from Chamba among 3 killed in Doda mishaps

DODA, Dec 12: Three persons lost their lives while two others were seriously injured in two different road accidents in the mountainous Doda district today.

The first accident took place this morning on Bhaderwah-Chamba road in Thanhala village when a van with four persons onboard plunged into a gorge leaving one of the travellers dead on spot and three others injured.
Immediately after the accident locals along with cops under the supervision of SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta started a rescue operation and retrieved all the accident victims from the gorge and shifted them to Sub District Hospital Bhaderwah.
The rescuers found driver of the vehicle Rinku Kumar, 35, resident of Saloni in HP dead on the spot.
The ill fated Eeco vehicle bearing registration number HP07-927 was on its way to Saloni Subdivision of Chamba District in Himachal Pradesh from Gulabgarh Keru but when it reached near Thanhala village, it skidded off the road and fell downhill into 250 feet deep gorge.
Other three persons onboard the Eeco, who were seriously injured in the accident were workers at under construction Keru Hydroelectric Project in Kishtwar and they were returning to their homes back in Chamba district.
They were identified as Kailash Kumar, 41; Chanderbani, 35 and Jai Ram Singh, 45, all residents of district Chamba.
Later, Chanderbani succumbed to his injuries.
When contacted, BMO Bhaderwah, Dr. Versha Sharma said: “The two seriously injured persons had suffered head injuries and they were shifted to GMC Doda.”
Meanwhile, in another tragic road accident today, one person lost his life when a vehicle of Tata Sumo make in which he was onboard and was moving towards Bhargi from Gandoh met with an accident near Bhargi.
After the accident, locals rushed to the spot and with the help of cops shifted the injured person to Sub-District Hospital Gandoh, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The deceased was identified as Bansi Lal, son of Bodh Raj, resident of Gowari Bhargi, Tehsil Gandoh.
Police has registered cases for both these incidents and started investigations.
