JAMMU, Feb 21: Jammu Police has arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered 7.81 grams of a heroin-like substance from their possession in the Gadigarh area.
According to police, a patrolling team of Police Post Gadigarh, led by the in-charge of the post and assisted by the SHO of Satwari Police Station, intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02DP-0133 at Babliana during a routine naka.
During the search, the police party recovered the contraband substance from the possession of the accused, who were identified as Yakoob, son of Abdul Karim, and Muneer Ahmed, son of Abdul Hamid, both residents of Babliana.
The accused were immediately taken into custody and the recovered substance was seized on the spot following due legal formalities.
A case under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at the concerned police station and further investigation has been initiated. Police said efforts are underway to establish forward and backward linkages to dismantle the drug supply chain.
