UDHAMPUR, Mar 23: In separate cases, Udhampur Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered heroin from their possession.
A team of PS Ramnagar during checking at Naka Point Ramnagar, noticed a person coming from Gundhian side towards Ramnagar who, on seeing the naka party, turned back and started moving away suspiciously. Police party immediately apprehended him and during his personal search, 7.28 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.
On questioning, the said person disclosed his identity as Ram Puri son of Chuni Lal of Ward No. 02 Ramnagar, District Udhampur. He was taken into custody and accordingly, FIR No. 39/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at PS Ramnagar.
According to Police, the said accused is a habitual offender and has previously been involved in FIR No. 123/2022 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act of PS Ramnagar.
In another incident, during routine patrolling duty near Moon Light Bar, Teli Bari, Kud, a police party noticed one person sitting beside the road in suspicious circumstances.
On questioning, he disclosed his identity as Dhananjay Partap son of Late Naresh Chand Anthal of Chenani, District Udhampur. During his personal search, 7.82 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, FIR No. 11/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at PS Kud and further investigation is underway.
