KATRA, Apr 3: Police arrested two drug peddlers at Keri, under the jurisdiction of Katra Police Station, here today.
Reports said that during naka checking at Keri by a police party of PP Banganga, a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02DT-6459 was stopped for checking. During the search, 17 grams of heroin was recovered from the possession of motorcycle rider, identified as Rakesh Sharma, son of Romesh Chander, resident of Sungal Khadwani, Tehsil Akhnoor.
Further sustained checking led to the recovery of 150 strips (1500 tablets) of Pregabalin from the possession of the pillion rider Vikas Kumar, son of Satpal, resident of Choghan Mohalla, Tehsil Akhnoor.
In this regard, case FIR number 94/2026, under section 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra. Further investigation is underway to establish both backward and forward linkages of the arrested individuals and to expose the wider network involved in drug trafficking.
The entire operation was carried out by Incharge Banganga Police Post, PSI Jyoti Choudhary and SHO Katra, Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra, Dr Bhishm Dubey.
