UDHAMPUR, Dec 11: A police team of Police Post Tikri today apprehended two persons and recovered heroin from their possession during routine traffic checking at the naka point in Tikri.
According to police, the naka party noticed two individuals approaching on foot from the Manthal side. On spotting the police, both abruptly turned back and began walking in the opposite direction.
Sensing suspicion, the police personnel immediately intercepted and detained them for checking.
During questioning, the duo were identified as Nitin Sharma, son of Des Raj Sharma, resident of Ward No 07, Shakti Nagar, Udhampur and Vishal Singh, son of Jagdish Singh, resident of Shakti Nagar, Udhampur.
A personal search of the suspects led to the recovery of 7.07 grams of heroin, for which they failed to provide any valid explanation. Both were arrested on the spot.
In this connection, FIR No. 209/2025 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal.
