Two drug peddlers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Oct 12: Police arrested two drug peddlers near Birma Bridge and recovered 8.46 grams of heroin from their possession.
Reports said that a team of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Purab Singh while on patrolling duty near Birma Bridge noticed two persons coming from Supply Morh towards Udhampur town on a Scooty bearing registration number JK14L-2202.
On seeing the police vehicle the rider stopped at a distance and attempted to turn back. However, both of them were apprehended on the spot and during their personal search, 3.92 grams & 4.54 grams of heroin was recovered from each of them following which they were taken into custody.
The accused were identified as Irshad, son of Gulam Qadir of Shiv Nagar, Udhampur (rider) and Mohd Arif alias Jugnu, son of Mohd Gulsher of Dhanori, Udhampur (pillion rider).
In this regard, FIR number 363/2025 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur, and further investigation is underway.
