Two die of COVID in Jammu, 40 test +ve

73 new cases in Kashmir, 7 in Ladakh

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Aug 10: Two persons died of COVID-19 and 40 others tested positive in Jammu region while 73 fresh cases were reported in Kashmir division and seven in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
A 58-year-old man hailing from village Sazan in Doda district died of COVID-19 and co-morbidities in the SKIMS Srinagar today while 80-year-old woman from Bhataduriyan in Poonch district succumbed to the virus at home.
Two fresh casualties have taken Corona toll in Jammu region to 2153 including 1140 in Jammu district, 228 Rajouri, 151 Kathua, 137 Udhampur, 128 Doda, 119 Samba, 97 Poonch, 66 Ramban, 44 Kishtwar and 43 in Reasi district.
Among 40 new cases in the Jammu region, 10 were recorded in Jammu district, eight each Udhampur and Doda, six Rajouri, three Poonch, two each in Kishtwar and Ramban and one in Kathua district. No new cases were registered in Samba and Reasi districts.
In the region, 49 persons today recovered from the virus.
Jammu region now has 1,22,269 Corona cases. Among them, 555 are active positive cases while 1,19,561 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2153 casualties.
Out of seven new COVID positive cases in Ladakh, six were reported from Leh and one in Kargil district.
The UT of Ladakh now has 72 active positive Coronavirus patients.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 73 fresh cases of COVID-19.
Those who tested positive include 38 from Srinagar, 4 from Baramulla, 9 from Budgam, 04 from Pulwama, 2 from Kupwara, 1 from Anantnag, 3 from Bandipora, 2 from Ganderbal, 9 from Kulgam and 1 from Shopian.
As per officials figures, 71,692 positive cases including 834 deaths and 70,560 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,725 including 282 deaths and 23,341 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,980 including 22,696 recoveries and 206 deaths are from Budgam, 15,238 including 14,999 recoveries and 194 deaths are from Pulwama, 14,117 including 165 deaths and 13,918 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,345 including 16,114 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,525 cases including 9,370 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,985 including 9,838 recoveries and 78 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,307 including 11,160 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,588 including 5,524 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 200,502 including 197,520 recoveries and 2,239 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,298 including 743 from Kashmir division.
With 124 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 317,081, which is 98.24 percent of the total cases.
