Two die, 2 critically hurt in road accident

RAJOURI, May 2: In a tragic road accident that occurred on Friday near the Dalhori area of Rajouri district, two persons lost their lives while two others sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri.
According to police sources, a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK11E-0621 was on way from Rajouri to Argi Dalhori when the driver reportedly lost control at a sharp turn. The vehicle veered off the road and plunged approximately 40 meters into a deep gorge.
Preliminary investigation suggested that the vehicle was being driven at an excessively high speed. The unidentified driver fled the scene after the mishap.
All the four occupants of the vehicle were injured in the incident. Local residents quickly responded and shifted the victims to GMC Rajouri. However, two of them-22-year-old Shakoor Ahmad, son of Dilpazeer, a resident of Talli, Argi, and 12-year-old Azhar Ali, son of Mohammad Mushtaq, a resident of Manjakote -were declared brought dead by the doctors.
The other two victims, Razia Begum (30), wife of Zulfiqar Hussain, and Mohammad Norani (56), son of Abdul Rameen, both residents of Dalhori, are currently undergoing treatment and are reported to be in critical condition.
The police have registered a case in connection with the incident and initiated a manhunt to trace the absconding driver. Post-mortem examinations were conducted, and the bodies of the deceased persons were handed over to their families after completing the necessary legal formalities.
