Two dead, 10 injured in Pennsylvania steel plant explosion

PENNSYLVANIA, Aug 12: Two people have been confirmed dead and at least ten others injured after an explosion ripped through a US Steel plant in Clairton, Pennsylvania today, local officials said.
The second victim was found during a search operation that extended into the evening, following the blast that destroyed part of the facility. The incident occurred at the US Steel Clairton site, located just outside Pittsburgh, which produces commercial coke a fuel used in steel production.
Initially, authorities had reported one fatality. The updated death toll was confirmed today by Allegheny County officials, who told NBC News that a person previously reported missing had been found dead.
The explosion also sparked a large fire and prompted an air-quality alert. Residents within a one-mile radius were urged to keep windows and doors shut due to pollution concerns, though the advisory was lifted later that evening.
The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined, and investigation is underway. (UNI)
