Two-day workshop concludes at CUJ

JAMMU, Oct 24: The Department of Educational Studies of the Central University of Jammu (CUJ), in partnership with Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan (VBUSS) and the Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, held a two-day workshop focused on “Integrating Indian Philosophy, Languages, and Educational Technology for Developing Model Curriculum in Education.”
A statement said that the initiative (workshop) supported the National Education Policy 2020, aiming to create a holistic and inclusive educational framework.
It said the workshop commenced with a keynote address by Prof Kailash Chandra Sharma, National President of VBUSS, who highlighted the significance of inclusive practices in education and the active role of student bodies in shaping academic policies.
He praised the collaborative efforts of VBUSS and various universities in organizing such impactful workshops.
KN Raghunandan, Organising Secretary of VBUSS, emphasized the necessity of youth involvement in enhancing the educational journey to ensure quality education. He urged educationists to unite for the effective implementation of NEP 2020.
Prof Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor of CUJ, discussed the transformative potential of educational technologies, drawing parallels with ancient Indian philosophies and their relevance for today’s learners. He commended the efforts of VBUSS’s J&K Ladakh Unit.
The keynote address by Prafull Ketkar, Editor of Organiser, focused on the decolonization of education, advocating for the integration of indigenous knowledge systems and cultural practices into the curriculum, aligning with NEP-2020’s goal of promoting Bharatiya Gyan Parampara.
Prof Yashwant Singh, CUJ Registrar, reinforced the need for education to reflect Indian traditions while embracing modern technological advancements.
Prof Asit K Mantry discussed the role of ethical education in nurturing responsible citizenship.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof J N Baliya, who acknowledged the contributions of the Vice Chancellor and participating dignitaries, marking the event as a testament to the power of collaboration in academia.
