Two-day training on Viral Hepatitis Control concludes

JAMMU, Dec 13: A two-day capacity-building programme for laboratory technicians and healthcare workers concluded successfully under the guidance of Managing Director, National Health Mission (NHM) J&K, Baseer ul Haq Chowdhary.
The training programme aimed at strengthening technical skills and reinforcing standard laboratory practices related to Hepatitis, with special focus on Hepatitis C, to ensure safe, reliable and efficient diagnostic services across the Union Territory.
Subject experts from Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu conducted detailed sessions covering key aspects such as overview and epidemiology of Hepatitis, modes of transmission, laboratory-associated risks, standard sample collection protocols, documentation and reporting procedures, blood spill management, needle-stick injury prevention, and effective use of laboratory portals and digital tools. Hands-on practical demonstrations were also organized to reinforce the theoretical and technical sessions.
Participants were further oriented on Hepatitis screening protocols, IEC-based awareness measures and preventive strategies. Healthcare professionals representing all ten districts of Jammu and Kashmir actively participated in the programme.
The successful completion of the training marks another significant step in NHM J&K’s ongoing efforts to strengthen laboratory services and promote evidence-based practices across the region.
