Two-day seminar on ‘community policing’ held at SKPA Udhampur

JAMMU, Nov 3: A two-day seminar on “community policing” was organised at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur to sensitize the police officers about strengthening community relations and enhancing public trust in policing.
A statement said total 23 officers from different wings of the Jammu and Kashmir Police participated in the seminar.
The event was inaugurated by Rajinder Kumar Gupta, SSP and Deputy Director Indoor/Trainings, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
In his address, Gupta emphasized the importance of community engagement in modern policing and said that cooperation between the police and the public is vital for maintaining peace, order, and mutual trust.
During the seminar, participants discussed several key topics including the importance of community policing in the modern era, the role of police stations in building public relations, counselling and mediation as grievance redressal tools, and public participation in policing to bridge the trust gap.
The programme was coordinated by Amit Parkash Sehgal, Senior Prosecuting Officer, assisted by HC Balbir Singh, faculty member.
