Two-day Mahapanchayat of daily wagers begins, demands highlighted

JAMMU, Apr 21: A two-day Mahapanchayat of daily wagers began today with the participation of daily rated workers from different departments, including PHE, PWD, Forest, Safai Karamchari. 10+2 Lectures and Home Guards, etc.
On the first day of the Mahapanchayat, BJP MLA, Balwant Singh Mankotia attended the event and expressed his support. In his speech, the MLA stated that he understands the pain of daily wagers and stands with them. He also mentioned that during the Assembly session, he and all the other MLAs of his party presented the issues of daily wagers to the Government.
Mankotia said that the all demands of the daily wagers are genuine and the Government must pay attention to the same.
Team Jammu chief Zorawar Singh Jamwal also took part in the Mahapanchayat and extended support to the daily wagers. He stressed that political leaders should rise above party politics and pay attention to these people because they have been demanding their rights for many years.
Tanveer Hussain, President of Jammu Kashmir Casual Labours United front (JKCLUF) highlighted demands of the daily wagers, which include implementation of Minimum Wages Act, Regularization Policy, re-opening the portal for those who have been working in the department for many years but could not get themselves registered in online process, policy for over age workers and workers who die in service, release of pending salary, implementation of Safai Karamchari Act, inclusion of the representatives of Daily Wagers in the Committee formed by the UT Govt on the issue of Daily Wagers, justice with those who have given land to the Department and release of outstanding wages.
Other speakers also highlighted the same demands and said that the order of the Supreme Court which was passed on 11th March 2015 in favour of Home Guards, should be implemented in JK UT. They also demanded that the order of CAT & High Court should be implemented for taking back those who have been removed without notice.
Those who spoke, included Pardeep Sharma, Devinder Singh, Pawan Kumar, Imran Prary, Tariq Rasool, Subash Chander, Dhani Ram, Kamala Sharma, Dyal Singh, Rajni Jamwal and others.
