JAMMU, Oct 26: A two-day annual conference of the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) titled “CUTICON J&K 2025” was organized at Convention Center, Canal Road (Jammu) under the aegis of IADVL Jammu and Kashmir branch.
The organizing chairperson of the conference was Dr Devraj Dogra, Prof and Head, Department of Dermatology, GMC Jammu and Dr Rohini Sharma, Associate Professor and Head GMC Rajouri, was the organizing secretary. The theme of the conference was “Exploring Dermatology, Past, Present and Future”.
Prominent national and international academicians and researchers from across the country including premier institutions AIIMS Delhi, PGI Chandigarh and other medical colleges attended the conference. Discussion, lectures and workshops on various important and challenging topics in dermatology were presented by experts who are world renowned and recognized in their field of interest.
Conference was a blend of various enlightening and intellectually stimulating sessions supervised by the scientific committee under the chairmanship of Dr Naina Dogra, scientific chairperson. Various sessions on newer developments in therapeutics in psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and connective tissue disorders which were well attended, were witnessed.
A panel discussion on quackery in dermatology evoked varied response from panellists and audience. The Conference provided a platform for juniors across medical colleges to learn and showcase their knowledge also.
Workshops and hands-on-experience sessions were held on lasers, botox and use of threads for anti-aging procedures. Healthy exchange of knowledge and expertise took place among the faculty and the delegates.
The conference was inaugurated by Dr Rajeev Sharma, National president IADVL who was also the chief guest of the occasion. Further, Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Principal GMC Jammu, Prof Iffat Hassan, Principal GMC Srinagar, Dr AS Bhatia, Principal GMC Rajouri, were the guests of honour.
Heads of other departments of GMC, administration of GMC Jammu and its associated hospitals including medical superintendents also graced the occasion with their presence.
The stalwart of dermatology, Dr Sanjay Gupta, former Prof and Head was honoured with lifetime achievement award. Other renowned dermatologists from the State: Dr Jitender Arora, Dr Vipin Gupta, Dr HS Soodan, Dr Sunil Dogra, Dr Satgur Dayal, Dr Naina Dogra, Dr Mashkoor Wani, Dr Shivani Ranjan, Dr Arti Sakral, Dr Supreet Singh and Dr Abhirut Thakur were also honoured.
