JAMMU, Aug 8: Police Post Sidhra successfully foiled two separate bovine smuggling attempts, rescuing a total of eight animals and arresting two accused involved in the illegal transportation.
Acting on specific inputs, police teams intercepted two Mahindra pickup vehicles-one bearing registration number JK14E-6111 and the other JK02BB-3061-both found loaded with four bovines each. The vehicles were seized on the spot.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohd Riyaz, son of Roshan Din, resident of Bali Nala Udhampur and Mohd Mansha, son of Fareed Ahmed, resident of Partap Nagar Rathian, Udhampur.
In this regard, two separate cases vide FIR Numbers 176/2025 and 177/2025 have been registered under Section 223/11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act at Police Station Nagrota. Further investigation is underway.
