Two bootleggers held with illicit liquor

DODA, May 29: Police here today arrested two bootleggers and recovered huge quantity of illicit liquor from their possession.
Official sources informed that last night cops from Police Station Thathri during vehicle checking duty intercepted a car of Ecco make bearing registration No. JK06A-9708.
Driver of the car was identified as Bir Singh, son of Lekh Raj, resident of Seri Bhalla, Tehsil Bhaderwah and his co-passenger was Kartar Singh, son of Bajra Thakur, resident of Bhalwana Tehsil Mohalla District Doda.
During checking, 50 quarters of liquor of JK Special Whisky each 180 ml and 1 quarter of JK Special Whisky 250 ml, 2 cans of beer Godfather of 500/500 ml each were recovered from the possession of driver of the car and his co-passenger.
Also, 34 quarters of JK Special Whisky of 250/250 ml each, 1 quarter of Imperial Blue 180 ml and 13 cans of beer Godfather were also recovered. During questioning both the accused could not produce any permission and has purchased the liquor illegally for selling purpose.
Accordingly a case in FIR No. 28/2025 US 48(A) Excise Act was registered at Police Station Thathri and investigation started while the vehicle involved in the offence was seized.
