JAMMU, Nov 23: Jammu and Kashmir Police in RS Pura area have registered a case against two house owners for renting out their premises without completing the mandatory tenant verification process.
Officials said that information was received at Police Station RS Pura that the house owners had accommodated tenants without submitting their verification forms, which is a violation of the orders issued by the District Magistrate Jammu.
As per rules, all the landlords must get tenants verified at the concerned police station before allowing them to stay.
They said during the enquiry, police found that Mehmood Ahmed and Lekh Raj, both residents of Dravtey, RS Pura, had rented out their hutments to several tenants without providing their details to the police.
Accordingly, an FIR under section 223 of the BNS was registered against the duo at Police Station RS Pura and further investigation taken up, they said.
Meanwhile, police have yet again urged the public to follow tenant verification guidelines strictly, warning that any violation will attract legal action.
