DODA, Dec 27: Police here today booked two persons for using VPN applications.
Cops from Police Post Bhagla Bharth during routine patrolling duty noticed a person using VPN application on his mobile phone at Bagla Main Market.
On questioning, the VPN user failed to provide any satisfactory explanation after which he was brought to the Police Post for further questioning.
He disclosed his identity as Khalid Abrar, son of Mohammad Abdullah Butt, resident of Bagla Bharth.
As the District Magistrate, Doda, has imposed a ban on the use of VPN applications, the individual had violated the lawful orders. Accordingly, on the basis of the report received from Police Post Bhagla Bharth, a cognizable report was forwarded to Police Station Doda, leading to the registration of FIR No. 279/2025 under Section 223 BNS. Further investigation was in progress.
Meanwhile, another person, Mohd Irfan, son of Abdul Latief, resident of Tendla, Tehsil Chilli, was spotted at Shali Pul, Gandoh, using a VPN application in violation of the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Doda. Accordingly, FIR No. 125/2025 under Section 223 BNS was registered at Police Station Gandoh and further investigation was underway.
Doda Police has appealed to the general public to strictly adhere to the orders issued by the District Administration and cooperate in maintaining law and order.
