Two Baratis killed, 28 injured in road mishap

KATHUA, July 25: Two members of a marriage party were killed while 28 others were injured 17 of them seriously after a matador bearing registration number JK08-D2995 turned turtle at Dhar road near Panther Chowk Billawar late last night.
The matador was carrying Baratis from Bagan to Ramkote in Billawar tehsil of Kathua district. The four -wheeler, was in high speed and after reaching near Panther Chowk the driver lost control over steering and the vehicle turned turtle resulting into on spot death of two passengers and injury to 28 others. The matador was over loaded also and instead of having a capacity of 14 passengers it was carrying more than double passengers. The driver of the vehicle fled after accident.
The dead have been identified as Sahil 16, S/O Bishan Dass and Subash, 38 S/O Deewan Chand both residents of Bhagan Billawar.
The seriously injured 17 passengers were rushed to GMC Jammu for treatment while others with minor injuries were admitted at SDH Billawar.
The dead bodies of two Baratis were handed over to their family members after postmortem at DH Billawar today for cremation. The Billawar Police has registered a case under Section 304 RPC and launched a manhunt for the driver.
