Two arrested for brandishing pistol in public; firearm recovered

JAMMU, Dec 28: In a joint operation with the Border Security Force (BSF), Jammu and Kashmir Police today arrested two persons for allegedly brandishing a pistol in a public place within the jurisdiction of Police Station Satwari, causing panic among the locals.
Acting on reliable inputs, a team of Police Station Satwari along, in coordination with 13 Battalion of the BSF, swiftly moved in and apprehended the suspects before the situation could escalate, a police official said.
They were identified as Manzoor Hussain and Suraj, both residents of Badhori, Bari Brahamana.
The police official said the duo was roaming in a public area while openly displaying a firearm, thereby creating fear and disturbing public order.
Following the apprehension, he said, a case FIR number 249/2025 was registered at Police Station Satwari under sections 3/25 Arms Act.
He said during the subsequent investigation, police recovered one pistol along with two magazines from their possession.
In addition, a pistol-like toy, allegedly used to create fear among the public, was also seized, added the police official.
Meanwhile, further investigation has been set into motion to ascertain the source of the weapon and to verify the role of the accused in any other criminal activities.
